With proverbs old as time, every day words of wisdom life are transmitted from generation to generation.

The inhabitants of Livigno once were mountain farmers and simple people, living on an altitude of 1.800 metres completely exposed to the alpine elements, living by cultivating the mountains and breeding animals. So only once a year, hay was harvested only once a year and the farmers tried to get the best from their harsh land.
It was always a very special relationship the inhabitants of Livigno had to the nature surrounding them. As it was a real problem for the people living in these heights, that the trees grow much slower than on a lower altitude. Houses built out of wood in Livigno got very precious for its inhabitants because wood was extremely rare.
