Livigno in brief
The village of Livigno lays off the S. Maria plain and is surrounded
by two immense mountain ranges. One on the right bank of the river
Spöll, from south-west, with Pizzo Filone (3.133 m), to north-east
with Monte della Neve (2.785 m), Monte Sponda (2.586 m) and the
Passo d'Eira (2.210 m) running into the La Paré (2.393 m);
on the left hand of the Spöll, the mountains run up from south-west,
with Piz La Stretta (3.104 m) to the north-east with Monte Campaccio
(3.007 m), Pizzo Cantone ( 2.904 m) and Vetta di Blesaccia (2.796
m) into the Vallandrea (2.326 m).
These towering mountain peaks, between 2.500 and 3.000 meters, offer
a natural barrier against the elements such as wind, fog and humidity,
so that all over the year Livigno has a dry but nonetheless refreshing
climate.
