26.11.1952 Travelling the Foscagno during wintertime
The Foscagno-Road can now be travelled through even during the
winter. This is made possible by Rocco Silvestri, one of Livigno's
most important inhabitants. Silvestri also initiated the wintertime
opening of the route between Livigno and Bormio in the year 1950.
Only in the year 1952, and also thanks to Mayor Gianvittorio Vittadini,
the relevant administrations can be convinced, that an opening during
wintertime can be achieved, based on the use of an enormous turbine-powered
snow-clearer named "Rolba".
After an adventurous five-day journey Rocco Silvestri, "Gioanìn
da Tòni" and "Patrizio Silvestri" reach "Bondi",
part of Livigno. They are greeted by the church bells, liberating
Livigno from its seclusion during the winter.
