Architectural period
The actual building was erected from 1884 to 1887, by the architect Piccinelli di Bergamo, and is not the original building. There already was a church, where today S.Maria is located, in 1325, and already renovated in the second half of the 15th century.
In 1468 the church officially got the parish of Livigno. Than the village got its independency from Bormio in 1477. Today only the belltower of this second building can be seen. The old church was demolished after the new one was completed. Large parts of the old building were integrated into the new one.
