S. Maria church
Consecration
The church of Holy Mary, later renamed in Church of Birth - celebrated
in September 8 - is the parish of Livigno. It was consecrated by
the bishop of Como, Monsignore Andrea Ferrari, on July 21 in 1892.
Ferrari later was nominated cardinal of Milan.
Location
The church is located in Via Dala Gesa, not far away from the centre
of the village, probably because like this it was near the main
roads, where everybody travelled from Zuoz over the Cassana to Bormio,
via the Eira and the Foscagno and via the Poschiavo (Forcola) to
the Alpisella or to the Valico del Gallo.
