Note
The main
altar [altar]
in the very large presbyterium hosts a tabernacle created by Giorgio
Staina probably in the year 1709, later worked on by Pierantonio
Fogaroli from Bormio. Scenes from the life of Virgin Mary are portrayed
on the tabernacle: her birth, the Immaculate Conception and Mary
at the Temple.
The first chapels on the left and on the right side of the presbyterium,
built in the years 1757/58 by the Brotherhood of Madonna del Carmine
e del Rosario, with its masters Giovanni Feit di Malles and an architect
called "Mattias", probably Mattias Peder from Slais, who
already worked on the designs of other churches in Bormio.
